Gone, Gone, Gone, Gone

Have you ever bundled up for a walk through the snow on a sunny day? If so, you know you need to grab your sunglasses along with your scarf because the reflection of the sun on the snow is blinding. Underneath the snow there may be dirt and mud, potholes, and decaying leaves. But all is covered, hidden, and washed white by the dazzling blanket of snow. It’s as pristine as sheer light.

That’s a picture of God’s forgiveness. Two verses in the Bible talk about how His love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8 and James 5:20). The blood of Christ cleanses us from all sin, covers a multitude of failures, and washes us whiter than snow. Perhaps you remember the little Sunday school song that said: Gone, Gone, Gone, Gone! Yes, my sins are gone. Now my soul is free, and in my heart’s a song. Buried in the deepest sea, Yes, that's good enough for me. I shall live eternally, Praise God! My sins are gone!

As a child of God, that's how you should feel today—whiter than snow.

Only those who are truly aware of their sin can truly cherish grace.
